I guess everyone at this site believes that there is more to us and more to the universe than just matter. One of our members, Mervin, shared a link to some video tutorials with me the other day that I have found to be informative and entertaining.

In a nutshell, these videos take the viewer through excerpts from the book, The Elegant Universe, by Brian Greene. Brian explains why string theory might hold the key to unifying the four forces of nature.

I have been encouraged and inspired this week on two counts. First by the Obama presidential address but perhaps more importantly by the consequential thought processes that this address has caused. The cycle of human consciousness I promote as a simple formulae for a fulfilling life is as follows:

1. Connection: taking time out to be alone at one with ourselves and the universe allows us to connect and live our life with presence.
2. Presence: being fully conscious and grounded in all we do, being there in the moment for everyone we meet.

It’s New Year’s Day and like so many people, I’ve been thinking about resolutions. I’ve made a few and many of them are the same as last year: drink less, eat fewer sweets, exercise more and so on. From the people I speak with, it seems these are in the world’s top ten resolutions anyway.
