Beyond Survival - a short course in pioneering in response to the current crisis

I would like to thank Liz Ford, who I have invited to become a member of this forum for sharing "Beyond Survival" by Graham Leicester with me. If you are interested in the current recession and how the world might need to be different as we emerge from it then follow the link and read the paper which is a downloadable pdf. I think there are significant implications for consciousness in the world of work and why it is necessary to help… Continue

Our Elegant Universe

I guess everyone at this site believes that there is more to us and more to the universe than just matter. One of our members, Mervin, shared a link to some video tutorials with me the other day that I have found to be informative and entertaining. In a nutshell, these videos take the viewer through excerpts from the book, The Elegant Universe, by Brian Greene. Brian explains why string theory might hold the key to unifying the four forces of nature. The link is: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/… Continue

Recovery from recession – lessons from the natural world

I have been encouraged and inspired this week on two counts. First by the Obama presidential address but perhaps more importantly by the consequential thought processes that this address has caused. It is as if Obama has been the spark to a flame and if this keeps going the flame will become an inferno. John Campbell, president of the Global Leadership Alliance, wrote The Obama Effect – radical change in a recession, focussing on Obama’s consistent reference to hope, opportunity, change and “ye… Continue

Reflection – one of four powerful ingredients in the recipe for personal growth

The cycle of human consciousness I promote as a simple formulae for a fulfilling life is as follows: 1. Connection: taking time out to be alone at one with ourselves and the universe allows us to connect and live our life with presence. 2. Presence: being fully conscious and grounded in all we do, being there in the moment for everyone we meet. 3. Right action: resulting from being fully present, at other times we react in reflex and unconscious manner. 4. Reflection: allowing us to learn from… Continue

Conscious Resolutions

It’s New Year’s Day and like so many people, I’ve been thinking about resolutions. I’ve made a few and many of them are the same as last year: drink less, eat fewer sweets, exercise more and so on. From the people I speak with, it seems these are in the world’s top ten resolutions anyway. So I wondered if maybe a different approach to resolutions might work. There’s only one way to find out. Let’s give it a go. So today, I share with you a new method for making resolutions based on my limited… Continue

Clear White Light

It's Christmas day. We've been to Church as a family, I've cooked the Christmas family meal, shared it with three generations, played a game, exchanged presents and we've been very much together. I've also taken some quiet time to find space, to connect. This time of year is a great time for space. There is space between one year and the next, between get togethers, between the seasons. The night brings space between the days and the silence brings space between words, even between thoughts. T… Continue

The daily cycle of human consciousness

Spirituality is this simple. To lead a connected life we must move around the following four-stage cycle consciously or unconsciously: 1. Connection: We need to take time out away from the noise of the material world to be alone, in touch with our deepest sense of self, with the universe, some would say with God. This connection is achieved in stillness, in meditation, in prayer, and in nature. 2. Presence: Taking time in quiet connection allows us to live our lives in a state of… Continue

What is Sacred Space?

Sacred Space as used at this network means a number of things. It is: 1. This networking site at Ning and any associated sites that provide online space for us to grow consciousness. 2. Any physical place that inspires us to explore our deepest sense of self. 3. The space within our deepest self where we are truly at one with each other and the universe. Continue

How will this site be used?

The truth is that we have yet to discover the power of this site. We will see where the journey leads. However, I have a vision and it is this: People will post items to this site that will inspire members and visitors in their spiritual journeys. At the moment, I do not fully understand the power and capability of Ning but I do know what I'd like to see. I envisage that a typical posting will contain some inspirational imagery such as a photograph. The image may be of a physical sacre… Continue

Who is Sacred Space for?

This site is for people of all backgrounds, faiths and nationalities who share the following beliefs: 1. All human beings are connected at a spiritual level to each other and to the universe. 2. We are connected by one consciousness that some faiths call "God" and others refer to in different ways. 3. People express their spirituality in many ways. There is one truth but many expressions of it. 4. It is good for humanity and our planet to share inspiration on sacred wisdom without seeking to… Continue
